Guiding Scripture: 2 Thessalonians 1:4 ‘Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.’

🔴 Waiting

written by: Torrie Slaughter

Paul’s second letter to the Thessalonians addressed how believers were to wait for the Lord. After his first letter, Paul received word that the persecution worsened, and the believers were tormented, confused, and many refused to work regular jobs. The order became chaos as culture influenced the new hearts of the Thessalonians.

But God is Just!

Paul reminded them that God would punish those who persecuted His children and to count it as joy. They were sharing in the Kingdom of God.

In 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12, Paul encourages the believers by reporting:

  1. The churches never stopped praying.
  2. God chose them and considered them worthy.
  3. God’s power can make every good thing come true.
  4. Jesus will be glorified through their works.

We can find comfort and peace while we thank God for our community. Growing in love and patience for those struggling with their faith shows God’s work within our hearts.

Prayer: Psalm 83:18, ‘Let them know that You, whose name is the Lord-that You alone are the Most High over all the earth.’ Amen
