Guiding Scripture: Proverbs 23:9 NLT “Don’t waste your breath on fools, for they will despise the wisest advice.”
written by: Torrie Slaughter
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Yesterday, we read Psalm 56, and I hope you prayerfully considered if you place your trust in God, always in all ways. Jesus is the way to eternal life with our Heavenly Father. The longer we resist that fact…well. (John 14:5-7)
What does the Bible say about fools, and what are their character traits?
- Doing the same things over again and not learning from their mistakes. (Proverbs 26:11)
- The foolish are easily angered. (Proverbs 12:16)
- They are deceptive. (Proverbs 14:8)
Ultimately the Bible warns us not to associate with fools or entertain their proud speech (Proverbs 14:7, 3). By recognizing foolish people’s behavior patterns, we can guard ourselves against wasting time. While a fool may appear wealthy or affluent, one only needs to pay attention to their deeds to discern the truth.
Prayer: Lord, please remove any hatred, self-loathing, or insecurity from our hearts. Help us to honor You with humility because Your wisdom is what we seek. Amen
