Bible Study & Devotional 238

Guiding Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 ‘Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.’
🔴The Discipline of Jesus Followers
I don’t know about you, but I need to ask the Holy Spirit to guard my mouth. Recently I fellowshipped with an amazing group of women. We ‘gather’ once a month to encourage, uplift, and prayer for one another.
It’s during these times that we can air our grievances and be sounding boards for ideas. Well, at our last meeting, I had an internal battle with my flesh. I wanted to scream out something, but it was inappropriate and bordered on ‘pettiness.’ I was ever so grateful that the Holy Spirit gave me the correct words to say.
I realized once I returned home that I would have ruined our fellowship and discouraged any forward momentum. The point of our gathering is to uplift and praise God for all He is doing. Because during our time together, we learn more about the interconnected power of our Lord.
Living Verse by Verse
My encouragement is to be intentional and allow the Holy Spirit to help you choose your words. Our conversations have the opportunity to be a pleasant aroma unto the Lord. As we lift others in prayer, we can remain aligned with God.
Prayer: May all who seek Jesus, rejoice and be glad. May those who long for God’s saving help always say, “The Lord is great!” -Amen (Psalm 40:16)
