Guiding Scripture: Job 9:33 ‘If only there were a mediator between us, someone who could bring us together.’
🔴The Problem with Evil
One of the distinct characteristics of evil is its power of influence. When humanity fell into sin by choosing autonomy, it created a chasm between God and us. If only we had a Mediator, someone who could bring us back into a right relationship with God the Father.?!
Well, that someone is JESUS!
Job recognized that something was separating him from God. In our humanity, we should be aware of our shortcomings. God, through Job’s suffering, foretold of a Savior who would redeem, restore, and reclaim the lost. While we will suffer here on earth, it is only temporary. If our discomfort prepares us for the immense peace and joy we will experience in eternity, the pain is more bearable.
J.H. Jowett wrote: “God does not comfort us to make us comfortable, but to make us comforters.”
We can continue to hope and remain encouraged. Why? Because we know the Truth of God’s Word. Through reading the Bible and listening to the Holy Spirit, we can eagerly anticipate the coming of Christ. While we wait, we know we have the Holy Spirit to help, intercede, and renew us. The process of sanctification is alive in those who believe (and do not believe John 16:8) in Christ.
The problem with evil is our constant battle with it. Yes, the Holy Spirit sets Himself up against our fleshly desires but, we still have a choice. My prayer is that the irreversible indwelling of the Holy Spirit will be ever-present in your mind. (Ephesians 1:13-14)
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen!
