Guiding Scripture: Romans 14:10 ‘You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.’
🔴Or the Highway…
Opinions. We all have them. Some people intently listen and try to find the middle ground, while others are more manipulative. They ‘know’ best, and their preferences deserve preferential treatment.
In Romans 14, the Apostle Paul warns and guides the believers to be loving in all situations. Especially those that could create unnecessary division.
Fruitless arguments and power struggles are not beneficial in Kingdom building.
The Jews disagreed with Paul’s teaching of the Gospel and also disagreed with each other. Arguments over insignificant things like food and Sabbath day divided the community. Oddly enough, we still debate these issues today.
The goal in this life is to behave like a member of God’s kingdom. As Christ-followers, we can ask ourselves: “what leads to peace?”
My way or the highway attitudes cause division and hostile heart conditions. For the weaker believers, it causes a stumbling block and teaches that preference trumps God’s love. Judgment belongs to God. For those in the body of Christ, it is our responsibility to cultivate peace and affection in the spirit of faith.
Romans 14:7, ‘For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone.
Are you living in unity with Him or carving out a different ‘direction’?
Romans 14:10 ‘You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister ? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.’
We can trust God to water the seeds we plant of good leadership, teaching, and love. Faithfully guide those who struggle on the road of self-centeredness and ask God to soften your heart. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, encourage those under your care to seek harmony. God’s Truth is a healing balm when applied with His loving touch.
Prayer: Lord, we want to bring You glory through our thoughts and deeds. Father, please help a renewed mind drive us and transformed worldview be active in our hearts. May we consistently demonstrate Christ’s love and be expressions of love for You and Your people. Amen

“Are you living in unity with Him or carving out a different ‘direction’? ” This is a great question to ask ourself in situations when we are addressing others. This question has great value for me and gives me focus for expression of ideas and thoughts in communication with others. Love agape, Mom
