🔴 Waiting Wisely

Genesis 37:12-14 told us the story of Jacob sending Joseph to report on his brothers’ activities. When Joseph located them, he walked into an ambush. His enraged brothers seized the opportunity to act out their emotions. We also watch the pattern of trading food to satisfy a temporary mental state. Genesis 37:23-25 tells us that the brothers ate while Joseph sat pleading for His life in an empty pit. It was unclear if they could hear him cry out; we find out later in Genesis 42:21 that they could. We know God heard Joseph and His grander plan would be successful. Our Lord sent Reuben, and he became the unlikely ally.

When we are frightened because of what men do and question the promise of God, we can look to this story and watch God’s providential hand cover Joseph and protect the covenant.

Hatred is a terrifying emotion. The offended do not think clearly or beyond the current circumstance.

Proverbs 4:7 The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom,
and whatever you get, get insight.

Christ-followers need to seek spiritual discernment actively.

Not too long ago,

I had a colleague, “Beth,” tell me she disliked going to her therapy sessions. She didn’t like that this particular counselor always wanted to talk about her childhood. Beth wanted to skip over that part and get to why she was the way she is now. Ok, was that giggle-worthy? Perhaps! LOL! However, this is an example of growing in wisdom.

Dear Reader,
  • What unresolved issues vex your current reality?
  • What underlying problems still haunt your relationships because you haven’t turned them over to God in prayer?

The wisest thing we can do is seek the Lord and wait patiently for Him to help us change. Don’t be afraid to acknowledge that you are human and need guidance. Please don’t put off the mental-spiritual work you could be doing now to make yourself better for the future.

Our attitude changes in prayer.

We receive God’s wisdom when we pray, practice obedience, faithfully accepts His Truth as absolute. Replace doubt, danger, and fear with the knowledge of God’s counter-strategy against any weapon formed against us. God blends both character and circumstances to accomplish great things. God does not change the way he works; He does not change His Words. Ask God to help you respond appropriately to life situations. Let people see the difference God makes in your lifetime. Even if we can’t see God’s purpose, he may be placing you in a position so you can help when the need arises. (Gen. 42:1-8)

Speak life, water the things around you that encourage godly ambition. The beginning of wisdom is to start absorbing it with God. Our words carry power, but they are not more powerful than God’s plan. God chooses to work through those willing to act for Him.
