A Daily Purpose

Guiding Scripture: Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.

🔴Prevail

I was curious today. I read the assigned reading in reverse order. So, I started with Proverbs and the word ‘prevail’ became anchored in my mind. Each verse became a statement of God’s Sovereignty.

2 Chronicles retells the history of Israel, and we watch God’s purpose prevail. In Romans 6:1-23, the Apostle Paul reveals the error of becoming more sinful to gain more grace. Because Jesus triumphed over sin and death by victoriously rising from the grave, the idea was to keep on sinning. Paul objected to that philosophy by reiterating that the Jews and Gentiles can live life under grace as transformed beings in Christ.

In Psalm 16, the psalmist confidently praises God (Yahweh)- in Him, he is content, and joy prevails in his heart. The psalmist blesses Yahweh and celebrates the safety and security of the Lord.

Proverbs 19:21 AMP Many plans are in a man’s mind, But it is the LORD’S purpose for him that will stand (be carried out).

How do we honor God with our thoughts and plan with Him? By remembering Who He IS.

While our imaginations, egos, and social influences keep us attempting to outdo the competition, God will always prevail. God’s unchanging nature is explicit and guaranteed. (Hebrews 6:17)

We have a choice: to pray and seek His will for our lives or waste precious time planting ideas in dubious environments. I urge you to take your plans before the Lord, and He will help you carry out His purpose.

Prayer: Lord, let us follow Your ways and plan our endeavors with you. Keep us focused on the goal of filling the empty seats so that those who need your healing transformation may come to know Your will for their lives. We want to honor you with our whole body and mind. Let all our activities in business, home, education, and recreation reflect maturity and love. Amen
