Bible Study & Devotional Day 165

Guiding Scriptures: Psalm 132:15 ”I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food. ‘
Acts 9:36 ‘In Joppa, there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek, her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor. ‘
🔴The Lord Provides
We cannot outgive the Giver. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and today’s passages are another reminder.
Solving a different problem becomes the narrative of our lives when we worship the Lord wholeheartedly. HE causes the blind to see and the death to hear; this type of spiritual awakening creates a partnership with God.
Connecting to His Provision
We know King David wanted to build a Temple for the Lord, but God did not assign him that task. So instead, King David moved the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6:1-19). He also amassed financial and material support for the future Temple construction (1 Chronicles 29:1-9).
Giving from the wisdom, provisions, and talents that we have is a blessing from the Lord. What a great opportunity to partner with God!
As you read today’s passages, think about Jesus and how He performed many miracles. The story of Tabitha is a testimony to the work of Christ. She was a woman who gave generously to those in need and was a respected provider in her community. In contrast, the passage implies but doesn’t directly say that the people wanted Peter to resurrect Tabitha (Acts 9:37-38). However, the Lord gives abundantly, and Tabitha resumed her ministry to the poor (Acts 9:40).
A Living Lesson
The Good News spread because Peter followed the urging of two men to go to Joppa. By focusing on restoring one woman, the salvation of Christ was received in a new place (Acts 9:42).
Prayer: Lord, help me follow Your lead. Like Tabitha, I pray my desire to help others is unselfish and loving. Lord, there is none like YOU! Even when I think it is over, You resurrect the decaying passion and encourage me to keep going. Thank You for Your living water that quenches my thirst completely. Please help me continue solving a different problem for Your glory. Amen
