Bible Study & Devotional Day 129

Guiding Scripture: John 6:19-21 When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on water, and they were frightened. 20 But he said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid.” 21 Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.”

 🔴 In Awe of Christ

Reverential fear allows us to serve our Lord humbly. His miraculous wonders should be regular occurrences because we believe. Are you in awe of Christ? Allow God to simplify your life by focusing on Him.

When the disciples knew it was Jesus they welcomed Him into the boat. As we read in Matthew 14:28-31, Peter asked if he could walk on water with Him. The added details from different perspectives is what makes the Word of God such a marvelous truth. God wants His people to be unique and walk faithfully with Him.

 Do it, afraid.

Although fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief, we are in danger, or something unwelcomed will happen, the other side is excitement. We can embrace the unknown simply because we know Christ is with us.

James Frey, the author of The Final Testament of the Holy Bible, wrote:

“Loss of control is always the source of fear; it is also, however, always the source of change.”

As you read today’s scriptures, pray and be encouraged to speak honestly to God. Three ways we can invite others to see Christ in us:

  1. Ask God to help you identify the encouragers in your life.
  2. Don’t lose sight of the bigger picture and what role you play in the lives of others.
  3. Be bold about your faith and actively seek ways to change the dynamic within your home, workplace, and classroom.

Each of us must confront our own fears, must come face to face with them. How we handle our fears will determine where we go with the rest of our lives. To experience adventure or to be limited by the fear of it.” –Judy Blume

As we celebrate Mother’s Day here in the United States, let’s explore the things we have in common. By acknowledging our fears, anxieties, and questions, we have about our character; we can apply the healing balm of Christ. Choose to walk in truth by training your thoughts to obey God. He is the unity we seek to dwell.

  1. Ah ha! I can move forward in faith even when I’m afraid because God is with me. I don’t have to wait for Him to remove my fear. Instead He and I can work through it and live with it together. Thank you for this word today!
