🔴 There’s Wisdom For That!

Guiding Scripture: “For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6 NLT).

As an older millennial who grew up without cell phones, it never ceases to amaze me how many products, services, and resources are now available to us through devices that fit in the palm of our hands. Want food on your doorstep in 30 minutes or less? There’s an app for that. Want some soothing background noise to help you sleep at night? There’s an app for that, too. There are literally thousands of apps for just about anything your mind can dream up, with new ones being created all the time.
And yet, as sophisticated as our technology has become, there are still certain things it can’t provide. Things like peace, hope, and a sense of purpose. You can’t download those, no matter how hard you look and how many buttons you press. There are plenty of wealthy and famous people who will admit they’ve tried and failed to do it.

Wisdom is one of those things you can’t download or buy. Of course, many people believe they can. Maybe that’s because we’re surrounded by more information than ever before. Data, however, is different from wisdom. While data can come from almost anywhere, the Bible clarifies that we as Christians should seek wisdom from God.

God’s wisdom is vastly different from ours.

The Bible tells us that the wisdom which comes from heaven is pure, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere (James 3:17). It is more priceless than gold (Proverbs 17:17). Not only that, but God promises to give it to us freely if we ask Him (James 1:5).
Just think about that for a moment. The God of all creation—who has existed for untold years before any of us came into being—that same God is willing to pour out as much of His infinite wisdom as we need, whenever we need it. How many of us really slow down long enough to take advantage of that generous offer?

Let’s go back to the phone idea for a moment.

Imagine that someone had downloaded dozens of the most sophisticated apps in existence onto your phone, all designed to help you live your life with more focus and efficiency…and the only one you wanted to use was the calculator. How effective would you be in your daily routine? How limited would you be in terms of the tasks you needed to complete?

It’s time for us to stop operating in a limited capacity when we serve an unlimited God.

He has made all of His knowledge and understanding available to us, and all we need to do is seek Him for it. Are you willing to do that today? When will you look at your problems and circumstances and say, “There’s wisdom for that,” and ask God to supply it?
