Bible Study & Devotional Day 114

Guiding Scripture: Judges 2:9-10 ‘After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. 10 Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and served the Baals. ‘

🔴 Consequences of Ignored Warnings

Plans change, perspectives shift, and life is stressful. Our circle of influence shapes our thinking. We can be easily manipulated into a rebellious path if we do not heed the warnings. (Joshua 24:14)

Yesterday we reviewed the benefits of prayer, praise, and meditation to strengthen our spirits. As God speaks through his people in time of apostasy, we can learn to adjust accordingly. We live in a time that requires us to be still and know that the Lord He is God. He will never leave, nor will He forsake us. Understanding who we are in Christ is the filter through which we, as humans, can decide to be kind, show mercy, and not be oppressive. (Judges 2:18)

Training our minds to be anchored in the Lord is a step towards the righteousness he calls us to. We have mental triggers that cause us to react in unholy ways oppressing the fatherless, the sojourner, the poor, the women, and children. (or people who are ‘unsophisticated‘)

Do you believe your purpose is to delay that of others?

Resistance to God’s love, teachings, and commands builds over time. We have to look for the warning signs. It may start as ungratefulness to kindness or being resistant to learning and deliberately forgetting all the blessings God gives. (No knowledge of facts.)

‘The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands, the foolish one tears hers down. ‘ Proverbs 14:1

God gives us the ability to see the warning signs and prepare accordingly. That allows God to give us rest from our anxious thoughts and focus our attention on Him.

Eventually, we will have to face the consequence of failing to learn from the crimes we committed. We do not want God to turn us away because of our hardened hearts. Sin is the chain choking our heart; let’s not allow the elements of this world to infuse us with its corrosive idols. Ask God to break your chains.

Points to Ponder

  • Are you ungrateful because you have built your life around your wealth?
  • Do you rebel, blaming everyone and God for the circumstances of your emotionally, physically, and spiritual state of mind?
  •  Are you ignoring God by rejecting His gift of wisdom?
