Bible Study & Devotional Day 111

🔴 Order in the Court!
If you have ever set the record straight to clarify your intentions, then today’s reading of Joshua 22 felt euphoric. The Reubenites, Gadites, and half-tribe of Manassah wanted to honor God with a physical symbol. They wanted to create a legacy and illuminate the promise of Yahweh’s blessing extending across the Jordan River.
BUT…
Israel assembled an army to fight against a perceived rebellion. (Joshua 22:11-12)
However, before declaring war in a land that God proclaimed peace, they held a conference. If the tribes could gather in an orderly fashion to discuss conflict, how much more responsible are we?
Acknowledge the Root:
There is a divide in many families, businesses, churches, and organizations because they lack honest communication. Following God is the only way we can obediently live a life of service. It is in the court of our minds, relationships, and actions that we bring glory to His name.
The word ‘court’ is a verb and is defined as seeking to gain or achieve and have an alliance. A noteworthy synonym of court is a palace. Isn’t that interesting?
As you study today’s scriptures, I would like to provide affirming passages that remind us of God’s order:
God knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust, for He pities those who fear Him. Psalm 103:14
To remember God’s commandments and to do them. Psalm 103:18
Do not eat the bread of a stingy man, do not desire his delicacies. (Proverbs 23:6)
Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the good sense of your words. (Proverbs 23:9)
Apply your heart to instruction and your ear to words of knowledge. (Proverbs 23:12)
The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight. (Proverbs 4:7)
My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord. Psalm 104:34
While we wait on the Lord, do not allow the enemy to create chaos in your life. Planning your day with God will lead to discipline in many areas. Structure, order, and lovely behavior propels the message of Christ. What will others see if they want to be part of your inner circle? Is it time to talk to the Lord and bring order to your court?
