🔴The Conflict of Love

In Luke 18:18, the rich man asked a question believing he had done everything correctly. How often have we thought we were righteous only to have the Holy Spirit otherwise convict us?
We must remember; Christ came to turn society upside down and offer a solution to the many burdens religion places on its followers. The rich man wasn’t alone. Religion taught that his strength was how he inherited eternal life—the things he DID versus the meditation of his heart.

Pride leads to conflict. If we are holding on to people or property without considering the damage we cause, that is greed and pride. The rich man tells Jesus he had followed all commandments since he was a child. (Luke 18:21)
He wanted Jesus to validate him and the Jewish way of life. But the rich man failed to understand love which clashed with his greed.

When God led the Israelites into the desert, it wasn’t punishment but retrained them to depend on Him. It may be time to unclench our fists and release the pride. Partnering with God is the most outstanding achievement any of us can have. It may not be easy to let go if we aren’t sure God will replace it with something better. But in that uncertainty, we should question the greediness of our pride.

  1. As I snuggle into Jesus’ embrace, all those things I use to hold onto – I find myself letting go. A new purse, new sneakers don’t fill my soul or bring depth of joy:)

    1. Oh that’s so good! Yes let us all snuggle into the embrace of Christ! He wants His children to be with Him.
