Bible Study & Devotional Day 101

Guiding Scripture: Joshua 3:8 “Tell the priests who carry the ark of the covenant: ‘When you reach the edge of the Jordan’s waters, go and stand in the river.’ ”

🔴Flood Water

If you live near a body of water, you are likely familiar with flooding. Floods can damage homes, take out basements and leave a mess. The cleansing water leaves mud piles, debris, and, depending on what floats to the surface, a horrible stench. In these times, flooding isn’t a celebration; it is a sign of impending catastrophe.

Imagine being led through a place you have not been and God telling you He would be your guide. Let’s place ourselves with the Israelites who wandered through the desert and were finally stepping into the Promised Land. Not to be comfortable but as preparation for their next mission.
God showed His incredible power to a generation who had only heard of their ancestors crossing the Red Sea on dry land. They were about to witness a miraculous wonder.

When rivers flood, all types of things are carried along their surface. Being in the desert, I envision muddy waters. Stepping into this water, one would not be able to see the earth beneath. That’s a faith step- taking obedient action while trusting God!

As you read today’s passages, think about how God commanded the Levites to walk into the Jordan River as it raged through carrying unknown and unseen animals or debris. Consider your actions as you stand at the intersection of obedience and doubt. Is God asking you to trust Him with the next phase of your purpose?
